i once awoke
inside
skin
so thinly disguised
as compromise
drew lulling tears
until i was shaken
by words unheard
from thoughts
unspoken
uttering
of consequence
beyond
these walls
where echoes go
to greet death
calling
as throes
of discontent
and gloaming bathe
the hollow hearts
beneath a bellowing sky

It’s been a while since a poem I’ve read online has touched me in the feels. This one did. Thank you.

You recently followed my blog. I’m a children’s writer. I admit, I’ve found it difficult to relate to or write poetry. I think because truly good poetry often requires an exposure of oneself that I’ve always stayed away from. You obviously can do this and not to mention you’re a good writer. Thanks for the connection.
