how can one hope
to be any less human
when home is the place
where we live
here in the hearth
of an earth
bound for ruin
unknown
and alone
unabridged
the scope of our sentence
belies even sentience
in spite of our bellowing breast
when all things lie hinged
on a starburst’s behest
what tenuous faith
lingers yet

‘what tenuous faith lingers yet’
like this ending, a nice counter-balance to ‘home is the place’ & ‘unabridged’ – whatever goes on in the mind, we are connected as matter/energy to the big process, Universe.
Why would anyone ‘hope to be less human’? (I wonder)

Totally love this ending: “when all things lie hinged / on a starburst’s behest / what tenuous faith / lingers yet.” Anything could happen and yet, we hope. Because we are human. Because we NEED to hope. Thanks, Max. :)

we never stop searching for the meanings of our own lives, because we can’t, because it gives us a sense of purpose, validating why we’re here on this planet…
